Are you hoping for the Jets to get a pick? or Not

Post by JohnTurney »

In 16 games Jets have not intercepted a pass ... never happened since became a stat--and likey before tghat, maybe a team that folded after a few games might not have had a pick from 1920-32 but if Jets don't get one it's going to be quite an "achievment"

Yes. This is gross. Also only three takeways on defensive plays is gross. (There was a fourth takeaway on a punt.)

I don't want Nick Folk, Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall, Nick Needham, and Thomas Hennessy to all be tied for the team lead in interceptions.

If they do not record one, then I hope this is seen as so truly embarrassing as to have major repercussions. I want Aaron Glenn wearing a hat in training camp with "0 INTs" on it. Glenn has to own the stink. I want one member of the media asking about the zero interceptions every time he gives a press conference until there is one.

I want a sign out front of team headquarters that has on it, "X days since we had an interception" and gets updated every day.

One OTA session maybe should have all the defensive players with their eyelids open A Clockwork Orange-style watching every opponent's pass attempt against them from 2025. Make them get sick about no interceptions although half those players will be new by then.

I want a defensive meeting with a football on the screen. Then the new defensive coordinator and/or Glenn tells them, "That thing is a football. We want to get it." Then that man walks out of the room and that's it for the day.

At some point later this year, I need to hear something like this happened.

Part of me does because I want to see a little history.

Out of curiosity do the Jets have many good pass defenders on their roster that are injured this season?

The Jets are 20th in passed defensed. They do have loads of injuries as well.

Yep ... Allen out of the game after only one snap. Can the Jets intercept Biscuit? You would think with nickel and dime defenses that defenders would anticipate which receivers would get targetted and jump the patterns but physical, bump and run coverage with jamming at the line of scrimmage, just isnt emphasized anymore. Find a way to tip passes at the line of scrimmage, Jets. Even the 2018 49ers got two interceptions.

As a Bills fan, yes I WAS actually rooting for the Jets to get a pick. The game was almost meaningless and zero interceptions by a defense in a season is just incredibly sad. I wouldn't even wish that upon the Jets.

Related... I like Aaron Glenn a lot, but he was clearly in over his head as a head coach this year. They should let him go and I hope he lands somewhere as a DC next year.

The Jets do rank about 20th or so by pass yardage allowed, but they also rank 25th going into today’s game by opponent pass attempts, and they rank second to last in both opponents passer rating and adjusted net yards per attempt. (with Dallas being slightly worse in both)

Not only did the Jets not get an interception, they allowed four touchdowns, 259 yards on 22 completed passes out of 29 attempts and a passer rating of 142.1 to Mitchell Trubisky.
