The nominations period for the 2026 Hall of Very Good class will open on March 1, 2026 and run thru April 15, 2026.
All PFRA members who are in good standing with the organization and have paid their dues for 2026 are eligible to nominate
up to 5 former coaches and/or players.
Players and coaches who last appeared in the 2000 season and earlier are eligible and must NOT currently be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
A list of those currently enshrined in the Hall of Very Good can be found here:

In recent years, 6-8 weeks has been typical.
There will be several announcements between now and April to remind members to submit nominees.
We have opened the nominations period earlier than in years past because we have resumed writing mini-biographies to be published in the
Coffin Corner along with the ballot. The goal is to help educate voters with information about each Finalist. The bios and the ballot have to be submitted near the end of May in order for them to appear in late summer/early fall edition (issue 4 or 5) of the
Coffin Corner.
Also, in recent years, we've received over 100 nominations each year from the PFRA membership. As a result, the HoVG committee decided to conduct multiple rounds of voting in order to determine the Final 20. So, there is sort of a schedule behind the process.
Typically, we open the election period on ~June 1 and it runs thru November 30, giving members ~6 months to vote.
Personally, I would like to open the nominations period in January each year, but that may be too early because the biographies from the previous year's inductees are not published until
Coffin Corner issue 2 (March/April).... the next one to come out for 2026. Folks could be confused on who to nominate because they may not recall who was inducted the previous year.
I hope this helps clarify. If you have any more questions or any suggestions, feedback, etc., please let me know. The HoVG committee is always open to feedback from PFRA members.

I've mentioned it in the past a few times. One change I'd like to see is, once we have a ballot and get to the voting process, allow voters to vote for
no more than 10 candidates instead of requiring exactly 10 votes. This way if a voter feels there are less than 10 qualified candidates in the ballot, they aren't forced into voting for someone they feel isn't deserving.

Thanks Matt ... hopefully more PFRA members nominate players, even if the number hits 200 where many of course wont make election, but at least theyre remembered and noted. We dont need another mistake like Russ Washington again, even though I know its alot of names for you guys to sort through ...

Chris, I have noted this and will share it with the committee. Thank you for the feedback.
My understanding is voting for exactly 10 of the 20 Finalists is to ensure candidates are not inducted with a low percentage of the total vote. For example, if members only voted for 1 or 2 candidates, it could be possible to get inductees with 25% (as an example) of the total vote. The current system ensures induction with at least 55.5%. In my opinion, that shows a consensus of the members support such inductee(s).
I'm not defending the current method. If you or any member has a proposal to replace the current system or ideas to improve it, please do share, we are interested.
