New formula for Tackles Before First Down that I thought of

One thing I think coup be a useful thing to take note of is how many tackles a defense made before first down.
While all recorded tackles stopped the play and therefore the progression of the opposing offense, a tackle could still have been after enough yardage was gained to move the chains so it could theoretically do less for your team than if the defense stopped the play before the first down.
I think I thought if a formula to estimate it (tell me what you think)
(Opponent pass attempts + Opponent Rush Attempts) - First Downs - Incomplete Passes - Turnovers
If it’s a pass that left the line of scrimmage, but that was not completed then the receiver couldn’t have been tackled, and if we remove all first down plays then touchdowns (which obviously have no tackling) would be cut out.
What do you all think? Just a formula I thought of that I may calculate later.
