Re: the 2-point try while down 9 debate
I was surprised the Eagles went for two down nine. I would have kicked the extra point to make it an eight point contest.... never go for two unless you have to, right? And with the amount of time left (~5 minutes), there was no way the Eagles would have gotten the ball back twice to score 9+ points.

Re: 2026 52 Modern-era candidiates
Hard to say if he intentionally missed blocks, but you watch film of him (and I know that you probably have), you can see him essentially get eaten alive at times. O-linemen make mistakes, but there are times when he looks waaaaay overmatched and gets beaten very quickly. I watched him a lot and ne...

Re: Matthew Stafford: HOVG, or HOF?
Don't know if it will prevail, in addition to the stuff already said about Matthew Stafford, one of the strongest talking points someone might use is the eye test. They will argue that "this guy did things no one else did' referring to the no-look passes and some arm angles (tho Aaron Rodgers ...

Re: Matthew Stafford: HOVG, or HOF?
You seem to value wins over mere passing stats like I do sluggermatt. Brees definitely was a more superior passer to Stafford and his stats are more similar-like to Marino, who many consider the best pure passer of any QB, who also had alot more wins than losses. Jack is right though ... the first ...

Re: Matthew Stafford: HOVG, or HOF?
^Good points Brian. I think Brees was also just a better passer. He led the NFL in passing yards 7x, passing touchdowns 4x. Stafford has never led in either. He's only led in pass attempts 2x and pass completions once. Plus, Brees was a winner, he had 172 career wins against 114 losses. Stafford is ...

Re: Matthew Stafford: HOVG, or HOF?
Its interesting that Stafford and the Rams have a chance to go into first place this weekend with a win against Seattle. Right now counting postseason, Stafford has led his two teams to a record of 120-120-1. With a possible divisional title and a possible chance at an NFC Championship appearance--...

Re: Antonio Brown
As I understand it that would be Jim Tyrer, Darren Sharper, and Antonio Brown. Anyone else that was good enough by consensus and is out solely due to off field actions? Ray Lewis is in the HOF. They clearly did not take into account his off-the-field history. It's been clearly established that Ray ...

9 coach semifinalists Bill Belichick Tom Coughlin Mike Holmgren Chuck Knox Buddy Parker Dan Reeves Marty Schottenheimer George Seifert Mike Shanahan Thanks. It's great to see Marty on here. Maybe I am in the minority, but he is a coach who I feel should be in the HOF, especially if guys like Dick V...

Re: The Decline of Punting
Out of curiosity, has anyone done a study into where on the field and on what yardage to go teams would punt at, and how rare it is at midfield now? Side note: Given the recent increase in teams going for it on fourth down, and therefore the reduced number of mid-field punts , a potential unbreakab...

Re: 2026 Hall of Fame Seniors - Last 52 Ranked by Position Group
Brian i could definitely see hilgenberg dilweg and parrish as senior semifinialists, as for Tasker im not sure about him like you said id like to see Bobby Boyd as a senior semifinialist Special teams isn't a "position". Tasker should be listed as a wide receiver, which is what he was.
