Re: 1984 AFC West discussion
1975 AFC Central up there, too. 1980s NFC East always had a bad team or two, often the Cardinals ... top to bottom for a single season? Not sure they have one ... but in terms of tough football, sure. 1999 AFC East no bad teams ... can think of a handful of others. 1984 NFC West, though, pretty goo...

Shannon Sharpe redefined the tight end position.
I am wondering how.

Re: Your Unpopular Football Opinions
I get attacked on Facebook football groups for this opinion but I'm not a fan of the double standard and bias towards Cleveland Browns players who's career's overlapped in the AAFC and only had 3-5 good years in the NFL getting in the Hall Of Fame compared to all the AFL legends who get snubbed bec...

Forty yard dash
The common story is Paul Brown used 40 yards because of special teams, how long/far you go on coverage. I cannot remember the reference, mayb John Madden, on air or in books, or Paul Zimmerman, or elsewhere. Jack Faulkner had a similar view, that football is a '40 yard game' but didn't seem to limit...

Re: '76 Cowboys
The year after SBX, the year before Dorsett/Big D's second and last World Championship under Tom Landry. They didn't make it to the conference championship game. They barely lost to the Rams at home in a defensive struggle, 14-12, in the divisional round. I either forgot about it or never knew it t...

Re: Most baffling All Decade choices
I agree with them. I would add Earl Campel for 1970s...seems like two years is too few.

Re: Most baffling All Decade choices
John Turney knows about all these questionable choices. He helped create the All-Mid Decade teams on Pro Football Journal. The HOF should acknowledge or honor/accept these teams. Thoroughly thought out and sensible ... Thanks for the compliment, but I wouldn't want Hall to acknowledge but was hopin...

Re: Most baffling All Decade choices
Just did a quick search for that; apparently it’s from one year ending in five to the next. (ex: 1995-2005) It's just a loose definition, so if a guy's best ten were 1985-94 or 1986-95, it didn't matter to me; I would accept one guy's 85-94 and another's 86-85. The idea was to be reasonable...and n...

Re: Flacco makes his first Pro Bowl!
Manning missed all of the 1976 season. He played in 1975, all but the last game. He and the Saints were terrible, but he played. Did they ask Steve Bartkowski? He was better than Boryla. There weren't a lot of good NFC QBs. Good call, my memory got it wrong. Thanks. Manning was asked but his arm wa...
