Re: Who was better: Bill Cowher or Mike Tomlin?
As I recall in the last years of Three Rivers the Steelers were hampered by not having enough cash to pay out big signing bonuses. If my memory is correct then that perhaps needs to be taken into account when evaluating Cowher's record in 1999 and 2000.

Re: Rank all ’90s Super Bowl winners, #1 - #10
Since someone keeps complaining about 1991 Washington winning against non play off teams but has never answered my question about what teams have won more games vs. playoff teams I decided to do a little exercise with the 1990s SB champions. The first number is what Pro Football Reference gives as t...

Re: Joe Gibbs' 3 Super Bowls- a great achievment or an asterisk?
Half their wins were against non-playoff teams (CIN, CLE, PIT, Phoenix 2x, Giants twice, Philly) I don care if they were 10-6, Philly didn’t make the playoffs; Giants were aging, Cardinals were the Cardinals, Dallas had no defense in 1991 The NFC East of 91 is one of the most overrated divisions in ...

Re: 1978 Pittsburgh Steelers VS 1989 San Francisco Forty Niners
I have a magazine that ran simulations and included a box score of one of them. It had the 49ers winning in OT 30-27.

Re: Greatest Performances Against The Greatest Teams
Is there any individual on the Lions defense that stood out in that 1962 Thanksgiving game against the Packers? If so they probably deserve a mention.

Re: Greatest Performances Against The Greatest Teams
I don't know if the 1947 Cardinals qualify as one of the greatest but they were champions. Sammy Baugh threw for 355 yards and 6 IDs in a 45-21 win over them. {He also threw for 364 yards and 5 IDs in a 45-42 loss vs. the runner-up Eagles that year]

Re: Notable Halloween NFL Games
The first two games that came to my mind: 1983 Redskins 27-24 win over Chargers. Moseley missed multiple FGs before the game winner. Washington also intercepted the Charges 5 or 6 times but blew a 24-7 lead before the game winner. 1994 Packers @ Bears. The Packers won 33-6 but the weather made that ...

Re: Notable Halloween NFL Games
I saw a graphic somewhere else today (pro-football-reference newsletter?) with all the all time leaders in various stat categories for 10/31. I was a bit amazed that the all time TD pass leader in Halloween games was Sammy Baugh with 10. They came in two games. 6 in 1943 vs. The Brooklyn Dodgers an...

Re: More shocking dominant teams: 1981-98 49ers or 2001-19 Patriots
I remember when SpyGate was made public some people on the Redskins message boards were joking that this explains how Belichek lost to Spurrier, the Redskins strategy was so nonsensical it confused the Patriots more than it helped.

Re: Joe Gibbs' 3 Super Bowls- a great achievment or an asterisk?
In the 1983 game vs. the Rams the Redskins lead 38-7 at half, added two FGs in the 3rd and then a D. Green int. ret for a TD in the 4th. At what point were they "running up the score"? Please tell me exactly when they were supposed to stop. In the 1991 56-17 game the last TD was also an in...
