Re: 1984 AFC West discussion
1975 AFC Central up there, too. 1980s NFC East always had a bad team or two, often the Cardinals ... top to bottom for a single season? Not sure they have one ... but in terms of tough football, sure. 1999 AFC East no bad teams ... can think of a handful of others. 1984 NFC West, though, pretty goo...

Re: Coaches who didn’t deserve to win COY
The big one that always stuck out on paper to me was Jack Pardee winning over the Buccaneers coach that took them to NFCCG in 1979 just 2 years after they were the worst team in NFL history. And I don't think that Pardee Redskins team even went to the playoffs that year. It was before my time and I...

Re: Your Unpopular Football Opinions
Here are mine: Troy Aikman was highly overrated as a QB- I think the 1992 Cowboys would have still gone 13-3 and won the Super Bowl if Steve Beurelein started every game that season The 1980 Raiders were basically Jim Plunkett and the 1970s geezers hanging on for one more hurrah The 1978-1979 Steel...

Re: Coaches who didn’t deserve to win COY
It too frequently gets awarded to the first year coach who improves his team 4-5 games from the previous season and sneaks them into the playoffs. "Coached a team that wasn't as awful as it was the year before" is too often the default rationale for the award. Dan Devine and Lindy Infante...

Re: Coaches who didn’t deserve to win COY
Some years they get this award wrong. Which years do you think so? 2003- Marvin Lewis or Bill Parcells deserved it more. What did Belichick do to earn it- win a bunch of close games? 1988- It should have been Marv Levy instead of Mike Ditka 2025- I’m sorry but the schedule alone should have disqual...

Re: Your Unpopular Football Opinions
The Packers played the AFC West so they did play three of the top 5 rushing attacks, which were all from that division. They also played the 49ers and Eagles which were top 10. Packers themselves were #11 and Lions were #12 and they played them twice. So that's 7 games against above average running...

Re: Your Unpopular Football Opinions
The 96 Pack were fourth against the run because they played a lot of lower-rated ground attacks. And, who cares what ESPN says? They probably have the 91 Redskins (another vastly overrated team) in the top two. What’s another team that you would consider the 91 Skins about as good as out of curiosi...

Re: Your Unpopular Football Opinions
Don’t know if this is unpopular or not, but I have been thinking lately that if someone appears on a senior committee ballot as a finalist and doesn’t get in, that they shouldn’t appear again for three years (or some amount of years). That way, more players can at least have the opportunity to be de...

Re: 2026 NFL Free Agency And Transactions
Out of curiosity what’s your opinion of the players the Seahawks just lost in free agency, and how well they fit their new rosters?

A question on recordkeeping
Hi,
Out of curiosity, are there any plays that were counted as a turnover for the defense, but not the offense in the late 1930's and early 1940's?
I noticed huge discrepancies when I was calculating Score% for the teams in 1936-1940 and I had to make adjustments.
